Oceanside CA— The Oceanside Public Library invites children, teens and adults to kick off the annual summer reading program on Friday, June 5, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Library, 330 North Coast Highway, with music, crafts and art. This event is free and fun for all ages. Attendees will help create decorations for the Library with craft activities during the event. At 6:00 p.m., Steel drummer Joseph Peck will provide an interactive and educational performance, and artwork from students at Teri Campus of Life will be on display until 9:00 p.m.
This year’s theme, titled “Read to the Rhythm,” runs from June 5 to August 1, 2015, and offers many activities that are free, educational and entertaining for all ages. Children ages 0-12 earn prizes for reading 30 minutes a day, or being read to, and enjoy fun events such as animal, music, magic and puppet shows at the Library throughout the summer.
The summer reading program helps children maintain or improve their reading levels and fosters a lifelong love of learning and reading. Teens and adults earn a prize for every three books read this summer, with extra prizes for best review, most books read and more! Stay tuned for upcoming announcements about music, dance and reading programs.
