Carlsbad CA— Join Happy Hour Politics on Wednesday, July 15th, to meet Trisha Amador, Deputy District Attorney, Sex Crimes, Human Trafficking Division. Trisha will address Senate Bill 967, more commonly referred to as the “Yes means Yes” law, recently signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown. This law, portrayed as a law revolutionizing the standard for consent, only applies to college students who are currently attending a university receiving Federal Title IX funding in the state of California. If you’re a student, or a parent or grandparent with children or grandchildren heading off to college, you need to know about and understand this law!
Trisha has been a DDA since 2007 and has worked in the El Cajon Branch, South Bay Branch, and Juvenile Division. She works with victims of all ages, but specializes in sexual assault cases, specifically drug and alcohol facilitated sexual assaults. She has taught law enforcement on the subject and is a guest speaker at the San Diego State FratMANers program providing information about drug and alcohol facilitated sexual assaults. In these presentations, her focus is to stress how being accused of/charged with/convicted of such crimes will impact their lives and the lives of their victims.
The Happy Hour Politics events are held the third Wednesday each month from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at The Crossings, 5800 The Crossings Dr, Carlsbad. There is a $20 cash cover charge (includes appetizers). Drinks are available for purchase. For more information, contact Coordinator Melanie Burkholder at 307-690-7814 or hhpcbad@gmail.com.
