Encinitas CA— The San Diego Botanic Garden is a beautiful garden oasis nestled on 37-acres in the midst of Encinitas. Visitors enjoy restful vistas, flowering trees, majestic palms, and the nation’s largest bamboo collection. Thanks to our mild Southern California climate, plants from all over the world thrive here. The diverse topography provides a wide variety of microclimates giving visitors the sensation of strolling through a tropical rainforest to hiking in the high-desert. Four miles of trails wind through 29 uniquely themed gardens including the acclaimed Hamilton Children’s Garden.

Each Thursday, Now – August 27, 2015, 4:30 pm – 8 pm. Hamilton Children’s Garden is free with paid admission or membership.
Thursday Family Fun Night. Families are invited to pack up the kids and enjoy some outdoor fun in Hamilton Children’s Garden at San Diego Botanic Garden. Live, kid-friendly entertainment is provided each Thursday night from 6-7 pm. Info: http://www.sdbgarden.org/thursnight.htm
Now – Monday, July 13, 2015. Daily, 9 am – 5 pm. Ecke Building. San Diego Botanic Garden. 230 Quail Gardens Drive. Free with paid admission or membership.
9th Annual Lung Hsiang Exhibit and Sale. The 9th Annual Lung Hsiang Exhibit and Sale features original Chinese Brush Paintings created by members of the Lung Hsiang chapter of the American Artists of Chinese Brush Painting. Blue Star Museum Program. The San Diego Botanic Garden is proud to participate in the Blue Star Museum program, offering free admission to all active duty, National Guard and Reserve members of the U.S. military and their families (card carrier plus 5 immediate family members). Encinitas Rotary Wine and Food Festival. Select a personal piece of driftwood as a base to hold your own unique design of succulents. Food and Wine Pairing with the Opera Singing Chef. Chef Elizabeth’s annual food and wine pairing class features a fabulous selection of local wines and great food! This year’s menu features Tuscan Spiced Chicken Wings, finished with a glaze of balsamic vinegar; Tamales with a Twist, filled with potatoes and cilantro, topped with two tasty salsas, tomatillo and roasted vegetables; and to top it all off, Mexican Brownies, made with Ibarra and dark bakers chocolates, spices and pine nuts.
