San Diego County CA— Thirty-three organizations throughout San Diego County were recognized with Diamond Awards during a special reception at SANDAG for their outstanding efforts to encourage their employees to use alternative transportation choices, such as public transit, carpooling, biking, and walking to get to work.
The Diamond Awards program is administered by the SANDAG iCommute division, which provides a variety of commuter assistance and employer services to help reduce traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions. These organizations help improve the region’s mobility by promoting alternatives to driving alone, including: vanpool, carpool, walk, bike, transit, telework, compressed workweek schedules, or a combination of these.
The 2015 iCommute Diamond Awards program recognizes employers as they work through stages of their commuter benefits program. The program is based on a points system tied to employer involvement, Corporate Challenge participation, and shifts in employee commute choices.
