Carlsbad CA— Carlsbad High School’s Varsity dance team, the Lancer Dancers, will be holding dance classes after school on Wednesdays from Sept. 30 through Dec. 2. Classes are tailored for beginners, intermediate and advanced dancers ages 5 to 14 for a donation of $125 per child (includes two live performances, a tee-shirt and photo.)
Participating “Junior Lancer Dancers” will learn new dance routines and perform on stage at the Lancer Dancer Showcase in December, as well as the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Event in downtown Carlsbad. Spending time with these teenage role models will help Junior Lancer Dancers gain self-confidence and learn how to develop a winning attitude.
Registration for the after school classes can be completed online at www.LancerDancers.com.
The donations will help fund the Lancer Dancers’ trip to Orlando, Florida to compete in the 2016 Universal Dance Association’s (UDA) National Championships at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex. The team will also be competing at the United Spirit Association’s (USA) National Championships in 2016 in Anaheim.
Nationally Recognized for Excellence in Dance
To attend UDA’s 2016 Nationals, the Lancer Dancers had to qualify during a UDA camp event this past summer. The Lancer Dancers qualified by placing first in their home routine. They also took home the prestigious Leadership Award and had six team members named All-American. UDA Nationals is the nation’s premier competition for high school dance squads. The Lancer Dancers consistently place in the top 5 nationally, and in doing so receive national television exposure on ESPN, reaching up to 90 million viewers and serving as teen ambassadors for the City of Carlsbad.
The Lancer Dancers have won 10 National Titles and are aiming at bringing home an 11th. Consistently ranking at or near the top is a tremendous accomplishment in a field where Carlsbad High School is one of the few public high school competing against many of the premier private schools and performing arts schools in the nation.
Community Support is Vital to the Lancer Dancers’ Success
Off the field and away from competition, the Lancer Dancers take pride in performing at wide range of community and charitable events. The support the squad receives from the Carlsbad community is truly instrumental in empowering the squad to consistently shine at such an elite level of competition. The Lancer Dancer team will also be hosting their 15th annual golf tournament on Oct. 19 at The Crossings at Carlsbad. They are currently seeking sponsors and golfers.
