Participation Entry Deadlines Near for Oceanside Harbor Days 2015

Oceanside CA— Oceanside Harbor Days returns Saturday, September 26th, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 27th, 2015, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This special multi-attraction and multi- participation event involves people from all age groups and vast degrees of interests.
On Saturday beginning at 7:00 a.m., the Harbor Days start out with the Oceanside Fire Department’s annual fundraising Pancake Breakfast. Then by 8:30 am the event moves on to the annual Fishing Derby. At 9 a.m. volleyball players begin their tournament while at the same time pirates start appearing at the Pirate Village welcoming everyone, especially attendees who wish to wear their own pirate costumes.
Beautiful contestants will be found at the Harbor Days main stage later on Saturday morning when the Teen Pageant begins at 10:30 a.m. Everyone can enjoy the two hundred and more Arts and Craft vendors situated in the North Harbor beach parking lots. The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce invites the public to request their own booth in order to show off and sell their products and/or services during the Harbor Days weekend, too.

Special military guests are a highlight for Harbor Days, too. This year the Navy’s LCAC from ACU-5 will land on the beach Saturday morning and vehicles from Camp Pendleton’s Mechanized Museum will be on display on the Harbor Beach.
The Oceanside Police Department Police Dogs will provide a canine demonstration at 11 am and 3 pm both on Saturday and Sundays. Live music will be performed on the main stage by a variety of local bands throughout the weekend.
Sunday brings more multi-participation choices for Harbor Day fans. First thing in the morning, at 7:30 p.m. starts the Tiki Swim Marathon. You’ll see the huge rubber ducky in the harbor just waiting for the swimmers as they set new athletic records.
Presented by Genentech Oceanside’s Harbor Days has a traditional grand finale competition. It is the unique and famously remembered Nail N’ Sail competition. Boat building begins at Sunday at 10:30 am. Attendees can choose to make their own boats, which may sink or swim, or play it safe. Watch as teams pound nails into wood planks and decorate their new vessels within a very short amount of time. At 2:00 p.m. the boats are put to the test when the quirky maritime contestants launch their brand new boats into the harbor and seek to win the coveted Nail N’ Sail winning title.
The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce organizes the integration of all these events for thousands of attendees to enjoy. They wish to remind everyone that entry deadlines for contestants, vendor and volunteer applications are nearing soon. For more information go to www.oceansidechamber.com/oceanside-harbor-days
Harbor Days is free to the public with complimentary transportation provided by the British Bus Company, with their unique double-decker buses picking up Harbor Days attendees from anywhere in on the Harbor Circle Drive and also provides a pick-up location at the downtown Oceanside transit center off Seagaze and Cleveland Streets.
