Oceanside CA— Women’s Resource Center in Oceanside will be hosting their annual fundraiser Magical Evening Sunset on the Lagoon on September 11th at 6pm. It is a casual cocktail event with beautiful views from the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center. The evening will feature tastings provided by Café Rosarita, Crystal Catering, Felix BBQ and Soul, and Hunter Steakhouse along with the refreshing Golden Coast Mead, Pizza Port Brewery, Stone Brewing, and PRP Wines. The always entertaining Reggie Smith Pressed 4 Time band will be there as well as the opportunity to support WRC by placing a bid in the live and silent auction.
Women’s Resource Center has been in Oceanside for over forty years providing services to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. Last year they were able to provide just of 6,000 families with counseling, advocacy, safety planning, legal assistance, shelter, food, and clothing. As the demand for services are increasing government funding for the agency is decreasing. According the National Network to End Domestic Violence recent survey of the country’s 2,000 domestic violence programs more than 78,500 victims of domestic violence reached out for housing, legal help, and other services on a given day last year. But of those, 10,871 had to be turned away because the programs didn’t have the resources to help them.
Magical Evening is WRC’s main fundraising event and last year we were able to raise $70,000. The goal for the agency is to raise $100,000 and we are on our way with the support of our sponsors. TriCity Medical Center has been long standing supporter and without them and our other sponsors the Magical Evening wouldn’t be the success it is. We would like to thank them and the community for all of their support. We hope to see you at this year’s event. Tickets can be purchased online http://bit.ly/wrcME2015
