Winning Designer Receives Adventure Trip to India
Carlsbad CA— White Rainbow Project, a 501c3 non-profit that provides hope, support and sustainable life skills to marginalized widows in India, is hosting the Second Annual Designer Sari Challenge benefit fundraiser on Thursday evening October 22nd from 5:30 to 9 pm in Carlsbad. Ten aspiring and rising clothing designers were selected to repurpose a lovingly used donated Indian Sari. Challenged with producing a custom garment from the sari, the designers have donated their creations to be “auctioned” to raise money for The White Rainbow Project. The public is encouraged to “vote” online at www.whiterainbowproject.org and at the event for their favorite creation. Votes, at one dollar each, raise funds for the life-changing work White Rainbow Project undertakes with widows in northern and southern India and also determines the winning garment of the 2nd Annual Designer Challenge. The winner of the challenge receives a highly coveted Adventure Trip to India with founder Linda Mandrayer and her team to visit sites such as Taj Mahal and spend time with the widows in the program. Last year’s winner Norma Hill of San Diego completed her trip in March 2015.
“With ten designers participating, we have twice the excitement we had last year,” explains Mandrayer. “The event has exploded in both size and festivities.” The Runway Fashion Show and Auction is the centerpiece of the evening, but attendees will also be treated to International Food Stations, a Gourmet Coffee and Tea Bar, Interactive Booths including how to wrap a sari, henna demonstrations, scarf tying techniques and more. Shoppers will love the fantastic Silent Auction and wide variety of fashion accessories all handmade by the White Rainbow Project widows. “Our one-of-a-kind jewelry and scarves make great Christmas presents” adds Camille Akin, Marketing Director. “Not only are you giving a beautiful and unique gift, you are an instrument of hope in restoring the lives of the widows.”
Tickets are $10 each and available online at http://whiterainbowproject.org
