Oceanside CA— The Oceanside Yacht Club held their 13th annual Charity Regatta, in August, to benefit The Elizabeth Hospice. On Saturday, September 5th, they presented a check for $18,000.00 to the group during the annual Commodores’ Cocktail Party.

“The thing about this club is it’s all about participating, volunteering and getting involved. We get to give back to a wonderful group like Elizabeth Hospice.” said Oceanside Yacht Club Commodore Michael Cobas.

Since 2003, the charity regatta has raised $216,533 to benefit The Elizabeth Hospice. Last year the net raised was $25,696.34.
“The one thing I am so amazed by is the incredible heart of the Oceanside Yacht Club.” said Melissa DelaCalzada, Elizabeth Hospice Director, Communications and Development. ” We’ve come together for a wonderful cause. There are so many people out there with a seriously ill loved one and because of you, we can help care for more of those people so they don’t live in fear, don’t live in pain and they don’t live alone.”
“The Elizabeth Hospice is caring for more than 250 people in the Oceanside area plus more than 60 others in the Carlsbad and Camp Pendleton areas”, Melissa told the group as she accepted the check from the yacht club.
Funds raised at the charity regatta ensure that seriously ill adults and children have access to quality hospice and palliative care services, regardless of their ability to pay.
Over the last 13 years due to the partnership with the OYC, The Elizabeth Hospice cares for more patients and their families along the coast. The event has increased awareness about hospice care and helps fund programs such as grief counseling for anyone in need of support.
