Oceanside CA— Survivors, community members, law enforcement and other professionals to join together to raise awareness about domestic violence at the Oceanside Civic Center Library on Saturday, October 17, 2015, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

In 2014, there were 16,897 domestic violence incidents reported to law enforcement in San Diego County, a two-percent increase from the prior year. Source: SANDAG
There were as many as 16 victims of domestic violence homicide in 2014, up from 9 the previous year. (*Many of these cases are still under investigation) Source: San Diego County DV Fatality Review Team.
Escondido and Oceanside each had over 1,000 DV incidents reported to law enforcement in 2014. Source: SANDAG

This Annual Domestic Violence HOPE event features music, activities, speakers, art and resource booths. Mother and father of murder victim Nicole Sinkule will share their expirence about their daughter who was murdered at the age of 24 on October 16, 2005 (10 years ago) by her boyfriend Eric Marum. Their 13-month relationship was plagued by Eric’s Methamphetamine use. Nicole was murdered by Eric as she slept; he beat her in the head with a hammer.
