Carlsbad CA— Carlsbad City Library will host a free year-end poetry reading, moderated by professor and poet Jenny Minniti-Shippey, on Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The poetry reading will be held at Carlsbad City Library’s Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium, located 1775 Dove Lane, followed by a reception in the library’s Gowland Meeting Room.
Minniti-Shippey, managing editor of Poetry International literary journal, will lead a group of San Diego State University MFA students and members of Poetry International in sharing current work. Magee Park Poets participants and the public are also welcome to read their original poetry during the open mic following the Poetry International reading.
Minniti-Shippey is a professor at San Diego State University. Her chapbook Done Dating DJs won the 2009 Fool for Poetry Prize, sponsored by the Munster Literature Centre. Her most recent chapbook is Earth’s Horses & Boys, published by Finishing Line Press in March 2013. Her work has appeared in Tar River Poetry, Jackson Hole Review, San Diego Poetry Annual and The San Diego Union-Tribune.
