Carlsbad CA— Join Happy Hour Politics on Wednesday, December 16th, to meet Ginny Scharbarth, Co-Founder/Executive Director, Kathy’s Legacy Foundation! Ms. Scharbarth is the mother of Kathy Scharbarth, a Carlsbad resident who was tragically murdered by her ex-boyfriend on November 24, 2011 . She will share with HHP her family’s love and unwavering commitment to Kathy’s memory through Kathy’s Legacy Foundation, an organization which provides tangible protection for victims of domestic violence and support for surviving children.
Kathy’s Legacy Foundation aspires to build Kathy’s Village, a residential safe-haven for domestic violence victims and their families. This village will be a safe and confidential place where victims can heal, recover and rebuild their lives as survivors of domestic violence. In addition, Kathy’s Legacy foundation works to provide attorney counsel for victims who need legal assistance, offer self defense classes, and fund activities and other services for children affected by domestic violence.
Learn about California Assembly Bill 2467, also known as “Kathy’s Law,” passed in 2012. This law allows judges to order electronic monitoring of a perpetrator, in addition to a restraining order in certain domestic violence cases. This law also allows the victim to be notified if the perpetrator is in the vicinity.
The Happy Hour Politics events are held the third Wednesday each month from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at The Crossings, 5800 The Crossings Dr, Carlsbad.
