Carlsbad CA— Hospice of the North Coast (HNC) invites community members grieving the loss of a loved one to its 35th annual Light Up A Life (LUAL) Memorial and Candle-Lighting Ceremony taking place on December 10, 2015 from 5:30-7:00 pm at the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center, 1580 Cannon Road, Carlsbad. Guests are advised to bundle up for the always well-attended outdoor event, arrive early and take advantage of complimentary valet parking. Light refreshments will be served.
Thanks to Hope Bereavement Center Sponsor, Gumpert Foundation, and Venue Sponsor, Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation, LUAL is offered at no cost. Donations to support this event and HNC’s end-of-life programs are greatly appreciated. People donating $100 or more will receive a personalized ornament. To register and make a donation, visit hospicenorthcoast.org or call 760.448.4204.
In keeping with the 2015 LUAL theme of “Remembering the Joy and Celebrating the Life,” the evening event, set against the inspirational backdrop of nature, is intended to bring comfort, sustenance, hope and healing. A keynote speaker will share a message of joy with the crowd. Music will fill the air. True to its name, Light Up A Life culminates in a poignant candle-lighting ceremony in which bereaved participants have the opportunity to light a candle in honor of their loved one.
HNC’s Executive Director Sharon Lutz has observed, “Each year at LUAL, a warm feeling of camaraderie among guests develops organically as they share not only their grief but their memories, which will never die. I’m always heartened to see the tears, smiles and hugs. The dozens of lit candles symbolize the connections among us all. I believe that people leave the event transformed by their experience.”
