Carlsbad CA— Carlsbad resident Tricia Bothmer is hosting her third annual “Hit an Ace for MS,” a fundraising tennis tournament for women starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, 2100 Costa Del Mar Road, Carlsbad.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in San Diego. Cost to play is $90 donation to the National MS Society, which includes a gift bag and admission to the post-tournament reception.
Bothmer, First VP and Financial Advisor with RBC Wealth Management, is organizing the tournament in honor of her sister Tracy, who lives in Chino Hills, Calif., and was diagnosed with MS in 2000.
The public is invited to attend the fundraiser and donate to the National MS Society. Check-in for tournament participants will begin at 12:30 p.m. The tournament will feature 32 entrants playing in a round-robin format.
An awards party, silent auction and raffle will be held after the tournament at 3 p.m. Requested donation for the post-tournament event is $50 per person. Spouses and friends are welcome to attend the awards reception following the tournament. A live auction will feature a tennis racket and custom Nike shoes from tennis superstar Maria Sharapova.
Tournament sponsors include RBC Wealth Management, Nuveen Investments, Principal Financial Group, Pimco BackRock, Inc., Henderson Global Investments, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co, Fidelity Investments, Janus Capital and GoMarco Bars. Fundraising goal is $10,000. The 2014 tournament raised $7,000.
