Oceanside CA— The Oceanside Sea Lions acknowledged Bonnie and George Mitchell for their outstanding dedication and service. Bonnie Mitchell has been a member for 25 years and her husband George Mitchell has 40 years of service with the Oceanside Sea Lions.
Since 1923, Helen Keller challenged the Lions to become “Knights of the Blind.
Sight conservation has been the primary mission of the Lions clubs. There are over 45,000 clubs throughout the world and over 1.4 million members.
The Oceanside Sea Lions also has been the sponsor of the Miss Oceanside and Miss Teen Oceanside Scholarship Pageant since 1981. The queens and princesses become goodwill ambassadors for the City of Oceanside, the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, and the Oceanside Sea Lions. The Sea Lions also sponsors an annual Bowl for the Blind, White Cane Days, and several other events throughout the year.
