Event to Benefit Challenged Athletes
Tickets on sale for island-inspired dinner show to raise money for Operation Rebound
Carlsbad CA— Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach has teamed up with the Challenged Athlete Foundation’s (CAF) Operation Rebound to host the first annual Surf & Luau Fundraiser and Awards Dinner on June 4, 2016. This unique sporting event will celebrate, support and showcase veterans and first responders overcoming physical challenges with a surf demonstration, luau and awards ceremony.
“We’re excited and honored to collaborate with such a wonderful organization on this event,” says Renato Alesiani, CEO of Wave Crest Hotels & Resorts. “Every member of our Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach team is committed to giving back to the community. Meeting our partners at CAF and learning about the great work their organization is doing was a blessing. We cannot think of a better teammate and we look forward to making this event a yearly tradition.”
The event draws upon the ocean – a key source of healing and an integral part of the Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad experience given the hotel’s steps-away proximity to the beach. This quintessential SoCal day of giving begins with an afternoon of CAF athletes and professional surfers hanging ten at South Carlsbad State Beach. Following, CAF athletes and supporters are invited to celebrate with a luau at Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach where there will be a full pig roast and a traditional hula show. The evening’s festivities will also include an awards ceremony with the following awards presented to deserving athletes; Volunteer Organization of the Year, Athlete Leadership Award and Most Inspirational Athlete Award. All event proceeds will go directly to CAF’s Operation Rebound to help advance their mission of empowering physically challenged people of all ages through a healthy and active lifestyle.
The public is invited to support the athletes by attending the inspirational surf demonstration from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Carlsbad State Beach. The island-inspired evening luau begins at 6 p.m. on the Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach ocean view seaside lawn and is $100 per person. Table sponsorships are also available and begin at $1,000 for a table of 10. “It’s always a great day when you see our athletes doing what they love while getting their community involved and inspired,” expresses Nico Marcolongo, program manager at CAF’s Operation Rebound. “This event will be a fantastic way to get a whole new population of San Diegans excited about our organization and let them interact with our athletes on a really personal basis.”
