Oceanside CA— The Agricultural region of Oceanside in South Morro Hills embarks on bringing visitors into the region to experience its rich Agricultural history with the premiere event Mercato-Farmers Market & Reclaimed Treasures.
Mercato, Italian for market, will include a Farmers Market selling berries, avocados, tomatoes, lettuce, lemons, passion fruit, succulents, cut flowers and more all grown in South Morro Hills, Oceanside.
There will be information on the crops we grow, wine from the local Beach House Winery, artisans creations, and booths filled with reclaimed treasures that need a new home.
Come and take a drive, meet the farmers, make some new friends, find some treasure out in the open air enjoying the sights and smells of Mercato.

Nestled in the hills south of Fallbrook and west of Bonsall, South Morro Hills is home to some of the biggest commercial agricultural growers. Mellano & Company third generation leading cut flower grower in the US, Nagata Bros. farm growing berries and cherimoyas achieving the American Dream since 1920, Gilligan Groves over 300 acres of avocados, Blue Heron Farm growing organic vegetables for local farmers markets & restaurants, D & K Growers nursery plants, Pardee Tree Nursery over 25 years and the largest in San Diego County, Armstrong Growers nursery and greenhouse, Altman Plants the largest grower of cacti and succulents in the United States these and other growers occupy the largest portion of South Morro Hills 3800 acres.
The award winning Beach House Winery offers fine wine tasting overlooking panoramic views of San Diego Country, abstract impressionism artist Diana Carey exhibited internationally offers studio tours and demonstrations, and Paradise Falls with its 18 acre wonderland garden and waterfalls set the back drop for a magical experience for weddings and receptions, these venues currently give visitors a peek at why South Morro Hills is such a special place.
Agri-tourism is new to the City of Oceanside. Oceanside has always been known for its amazing beaches, harbor, and the Mission San Luis Rey, but just last year the Oceanside City Council approved a study of the agricultural region and the possibilities it could bring to add to Oceanside’s visitor experience. Agri-tourism is a way to bring visitors out to Oceanside’s countryside and experience where fresh and local begin.
Most who live in San Diego County have never been out to this area of Oceanside that visitors say reminds them of Tuscany, hence the name Mercato, Italian for market.
