Oceanside CA— The San Diego District Lions Club will be sponsoring a Good Ol’ Summertime Carnival at Heritage Park in Oceanside on Saturday, August 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Lions Club will be giving the community an opportunity for fun, while raising funds for this historic park, located, 220 Peyri Drive in Oceanside.
Along with games, rides and a petting zoo, the Good Ol’ Summertime Carnival will hold a talent show, a pie baking contest, and a watermelon eating contest. Children can dress up in Old Time, Country or Western wear for the Costume Contest. There will also be vendors and food trucks at the Carnival.
Admission to the Carnival is free! The Talent Show entries are $10 for kids and $25 for adults who wish to compete. Come one, come all and be a part of the vision to help restore this wonderful asset in our neighborhood.
Coco Blodgett of the San Diego North County Lions Club noted, “We will be gathering to help raise awareness of Heritage Park and bring fun activities to the community as well. Attendees will include guests such as Mayor of Oceanside, Jim Wood, and California Congressman, Darrell Issa.”
The San Diego North County Lions Club has 20 members, and meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
