Carlsbad CA— MiraCosta College was recently awarded a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration to host a Veteran Business Outreach Center (VBOC). The center will serve veterans and their spouses in Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Imperial Counties.
The new VBOC, housed at the MiraCosta College facility located,https://goo.gl/maps/seA2gxswHn42 2075 Las Palmas Drive in Carlsbad, CA. will help veteran business owners get certified to bid on government contracts; offer counseling and one-on-one assistance in developing business plans, financial forecasts and marketing plans; and help veterans get small business loans.
It will operate from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday with evening appointments available by request.
The VBOC will coordinate and facilitate Boots 2 Business programs held at Vandenberg AFB; Edwards AFB; Fort Irwin; Los Angeles AFB; Twentynine Palms; Camp Pendleton; Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego; Naval Station San Diego and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar military bases. These programs are taught by SBA staff members and SBA resource partners such as SCORE, Small Business Development Centers and SBA lenders.
Boots 2 Business is a two-day training program offered to transitioning members of the military. It is a program that explains and encourages formation of small businesses. A longer, more detailed, online training program is offered at Syracuse University for those interested in becoming an entrepreneur.
All services at the VBOC will be provided at no costs to the client.
The VBOC opening will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the MiraCosta College facility located, 2075 Las Palmas Drive in Carlsbad.
Ruben Garcia of the San Diego District Office of the SBA will represent the U.S. Small Business Administration and Charlie Ng, VP of Business and Administrative Services will represent MiraCosta College. The event will be open to the public.
