Oceanside CA— The Oceanside Independence Parade presented by Tri-City Medical Center will occur on Saturday, July 2nd. The deadline for parade entries is fast approaching, Wednesday, June 10th. This annual downtown Oceanside parade will include more than 100 parade entries all marching, rolling, walking and driving down the Historic 101 Coast Highway.
“A real slice of Americana happens to us all during this holiday parade when we watch our Oceanside neighbors, local business owners, club organizations, non-profits, sports teams and individuals take part in this super patriotic event,” stated MainStreet Oceanside’s Executive Director, Rick Wright. “The float participation deadline is so important so that our organization knows how to prepare for a 2-hour parade. We don’t want to turn people away from being in this fun event so remember the deadline and call us if you have questions.”
Floats, horses, classic cars, marching bands, clowns and more will begin the parade route at 10 a.m., as usual, on Coast Highway from Wisconsin Avenue and ending at Civic Center Drive. Parade announcers will be strategically placed at Civic Center and Michigan Avenue.
“It will be an especially heart-warming parade experience since we declared this year’s parade theme, ‘Volunteers are the Heart of Our City’,” says Cathy Nykiel parade committee director. “Our theme was selected to honor those who contribute so much to our community. If you know of a special volunteer or volunteers, we encourage you to honor them by having them in the parade. The cost is only $40 for a non-profit entry. We encourage everyone in Oceanside to come out and be a part of this wonderful event, wave your American flag and represent your patriotic spirit or your group as we honor our Nation, Oceanside, local business and individuals that make up our wonderful community.”
