Oceanside CA— A group of Oceanside citizens belonging to a non-profit organization named “Citizens Preserving Our Historic Lands” recently donated a large sum of money to increase public safety in Oceanside. The group had a desire to give back to the community and ultimately provided $105,000 to the Oceanside Police Officer’s Foundation. The group requested the funds be used to purchase specific equipment including:
- AVATAR robot which allows Officers and the SWAT Team to observe and communicate in dangerous situations without putting officers in danger
- Law enforcement ear piece communication equipment that gives users the ability to communicate in loud chaotic environments
- Various equipment specifically designed to support the OPD’s on-going recruiting and retention efforts
- $30,000 scholarship fund for Oceanside and El Camino High Schools
The check was presented to the OPOA/Foundation President Dan Sullivan by Ione Elser, Kitty Talley and Ann Paul. The members of the Oceanside Police Officer’s Association are eternally grateful for the selfless donation. Not only will the equipment protect officers and the community but the increase in recruiting funds will help ensure the Oceanside Police Department continues to hire the high quality officers the public deserves and has come to expect from OPD.
