Encinitas CA— The Encinitas Preservation Association (EPA) is offering a bus tour of more than 60 historic points of interest in the five distinct communities of Encinitas on two consecutive Saturdays, August 20 and August 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The $45 per person tour ticket includes lunch at the San Dieguito Heritage Museum. The tour bus will depart promptly at 9 a.m. from the parking lot at Encinitas City Hall, 505 S. Vulcan Ave.
“The proceeds from the ticket sales will help to preserve two historic gems—the iconic boathouses on 3rd Street in Encinitas,” says EPA Board Member Carolyn Cope. “A highlight of the tour is the historic Bumann Ranch in Olivenhain,” adds Cope, who will also narrate on the bus as one of the tour guides. Cope, a life-long resident of Encinitas, is also the president of the Encinitas Historical Society which is providing the luncheon for the tour participants.
Fifth-generation Encinitan Tom Cozens will serve as one of the tour narrators on the bus. He is known for dazzling listeners with interesting facts and family stories. For the third year in a row Cozens’ company Sea Coast Exclusive Properties is the signature sponsor of the historical bus tour.
The Encinitas 101 MainStreet Association is selling bus tour tickets at 818 S. Coast Highway 101, Encinitas. Tickets may also be ordered by calling 760-943-1950.
Tickets may be picked up during business hours at the 101 MainStreet office by the Friday before each tour. Tickets may also be picked up at “will call” on the morning of the tour from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the City Hall location where the bus tour departs.
Space is limited on the 40-seat tour bus, and tickets for this popular event sell out quickly. Each tour participant will receive a goodie bag filled with brochures and information on most of the points of interest, along with a gift from the city of Encinitas and a water bottle. The air-conditioned tour bus will depart promptly at 9 a.m. from the parking lot at Encinitas City Hall, 505 S. Vulcan Ave. and will return to the same location at 1 p.m.
For questions about the tour, please call Carolyn Cope at 760-753-4834.
