Oceanside CA— On Thursday, September 8th, Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) held their 2nd Annual Board Installation Breakfast at the El Camino Country Club, to recognize and honor individuals, organizations and corporate partners for their commitment and dedication to the Club over the past year and to induct the 2016-2017 Board of Directors. Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood was present to pin the incoming Board of Directors, and Shelly Anguiano-Figueroa was present from Boys & Girls Clubs of America to conduct the ceremony.
The Gavel was passed from Robbie Hass, Past President, to Robert Botkin, current Board President. The following community members will also serve as leaders for the Board of Directors in the 2016-2017 year: Gigi Gleason, Vignette Matthews, Michael Klein, Serge Duarte, Kathleen Houck, Roseanne Kiss, Joan Llanes, Sharon Schultz, John Quinly and Donal Yasukochi.
Not only do Board Members serve and represent BGCO, they also are held to Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s standards and requirements. Recently BGCO’s Board of Directors was awarded Gold Level of the League of EAGLES Award. This award recognizes organizations for achieving 95% or more of the Key Performance Indicators for Strong Boards. It is a testimony to dedication and commitment of the organization’s board to serving the youth of our community at the highest level.
2015-2016 Committee Members were also recognized at the breakfast: Scott Ashton, Outreach Committee; Susan Andrews, Outreach Committee and Gala Committee; Jeremy Wilson, Finance Committee; Winston Elton, Finance Committee; and Janie Newsom, Gala Committee.
Awards were presented to several instrumental community individuals and organizations who continue to support the mission of BGCO and the youth in Oceanside.

The Community Partnership Award was presented to Waste Management and Kinane Events in appreciation of their support, dedication and commitment to BGCO. “We are so fortunate to have many wonderful community partners; this year we chose these two to honor today” said Jodi Diamond, CEO.
The Corporate Partnership Award was presented to Cox Communications, Tri-City Hospital and Federal Heath Signs Co. in appreciation of their substantial donation of time, talent and resources to BGCO. “We are so fortunate to have the support of local companies to help us in our efforts to ensure our youth have bright futures” said Jodi Diamond, CEO.
The Community Impact Award was presented to individuals in appreciation of their substantial donation of time and resources to BGCO. Two beloved volunteers, Debbie Caillouette and Tyson Quiller received this award.
The Media Partnership Award, a new award for 2016, was presented to OsideNews Online and Osider Magazine. Jodi Diamond, CEO explains the award is given to “recognize our media partners who have taken notice of what we are doing and have run our press releases, read our media alerts and made sure that the great and positive things happening in our community gets the coverage it deserves.”

The Chairperson’s Award was presented to Roseanne Kiss, who has gone above and beyond as an ambassador of the Club in meeting the roles and responsibilities while serving on the Board of Directors. Robbie Hass, Past President chose Ms. Kiss for this honor. “Roseanne we love you, I love you, and on behalf of the Club and Board of Directors, we thank you for your service and leadership” said Ms. Hass.

Lastly, the Jeremiah Milbank Award, Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s highest award, was presented to Keith & Robbie Hass, Laura Galinson, and Gigi Gleason. The award is named after a life-long volunteer, Jeremiah Milbank who personified extraordinary, long-term concern for youth and those in difficult circumstances. “Today, those that we honor personify the spirit and dedication of Jeremiah Milbank. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you do for the youth in our community” said Jodi Diamond CEO.
