Carlsbad CA— Carlsbad High School’s Varsity dance team, the Lancer Dancers, will be holding dance classes after school on Wednesdays from Sept. 28 through Nov. 30. Classes are tailored for beginners, intermediate and advanced dancers ages 5 to 14 for a donation of $125 per child (includes two live performances, a tee-shirt and photo.)
Participating “Junior Lancer Dancers” will learn new dance routines and perform on stage at the Lancer Dancer Showcase in December, as well as at the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Event in downtown Carlsbad. Spending time with these teenage role models will help Junior Lancer Dancers gain self-confidence, improve technique and learn how to develop a winning attitude.
Registration can be completed online at www.LancerDancers.com. The donations will help fund the Lancer Dancer’s annual trip to Orlando, Florida to compete in the Universal Dance Association’s (UDA) National and World Championships.
Coached by Lancer Dancer alum Laura Nares, this elite group of dancers are selected each year through a rigorous try-out and screening process and are nationally recognized for excellence in dance. In the last 15 years, the Lancer Dancers have won 11 National Titles in jazz and hip hop. Their most recent title was at the USA Dance National Championships in Anaheim in March 2016, where they placed first in Hip Hop. In February 2016, the team was awarded the prestigious World Championship title in Hip Hop during the UDA National Dance Team Championships in Orlando, Florida.
