American Society of Interior Designers Presents Self-Guided tour will feature four North County Homes, including one in Oceanside
San Diego County CA— The American Society of Interior Designers’ “Design Excursion,” Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., will feature six beautifully remodeled residences located in central San Diego and North County. The self-guided tour will showcase a broad range of styles, tastes and lifestyles and show how professional interior design can transform people’s lives and lifestyles.
Homes on the tour range from a historic 1930s bungalow in Kensington to a Downtown San Diego condo given a “modern glam” aesthetic to a Carlsbad home updated and transformed for aging in place. The tour will also include the personal residence of the new ASID San Diego Chapter President Lena Brion, ASID, who created a timeless look for her 1980s tract home in Vista.
“This tour shows how designers can create beautiful interiors while working within the budgets, lifestyles, and tastes of homeowners,” said Lu Costigan, Industry Partner, ASID, co-chair of the event.
The projects on the 2016 Design Excursion illustrate the dynamic collaboration among interior designers, clients and contractors. Participating designers, who will be on-site during the tour for questions, include Beth Booth, Allied ASID, Spaces Renewed; Lena Brion, ASID, Brion Design; Ann Cummings, ASID, Design InSite; Beppie Mostert, Allied ASID, Living Design Interiors; Susan O’Brien, Allied ASID, EcoLux Interiors; and Michelle Strausbaugh, Allied ASID, Reveal Studio Inc.
“The participating designers include some of the top designers in San Diego County and include accomplished design professionals with extensive experience and
young designers who bring a Gen X awareness and verve,” said Beppie Mostert, event co-chair.
Homes on the tour feature remodeled kitchens that seamlessly blend with the outdoors and the rest of the home, noted Brion. “These beautiful and efficient kitchens include the innovations such as complementary (not matching) surfaces, green design, creative storage solutions, pops of color, smart appliances and personal touches,” she said.
All of the homes feature a variety of remodeled spaces. DIY attendees can pick up ideas on the latest in lighting, flooring, finishes, colors, cabinetry, furniture styling and placement, windows, doors, and landscaping.
“The tour shows how designers can take dark, cramped, outdated spaces and transform them into open, light-filled spaces with a connection to other living areas and the outdoors,” said Mostert, noting that San Diego Home-Garden & Lifestyles magazine is the media sponsor.
Tour sites are located in the San Diego communities of Downtown, Kensington and Mission Hills and the North County communities of Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista.
