Oceanside CA—MiraCosta College’s Community Education Program has scheduled an excursion to the Griffith Observatory and San Antonio Winery on Saturday, February 11.
The Griffith Observatory is one of L.A.’s greatest cultural attractions. It offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and Downtown L.A. from atop Mt. Hollywood in Griffith Park. The observatory is renowned as a national leader in public astronomy, and a beloved gathering place for visitors. It offers many magnificent astronomy exhibits. It has a nice cafe. and gift shop on the premises for you to grab a bite or purchase a souvenir.
There is an optional planetarium show that you may purchase tickets to (subject to availability and time constraints). The show costs $7; $5 for seniors age 60 and older. If you are fit, you may take a hike on the trails surrounding the observatory.
On our way to the observatory, we will stop at the beautiful San Antonio Winery for a free tour and optional no-host wine tasting and/or lunch. Then we will re-board the bus to travel to the Griffith Observatory for the remainder of our time. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring a jacket or sweater.
Fee: Book by 2/1: $59. After: $69. Bus will depart at 10 a.m. from MiraCosta College, 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside (Parking Lot 1A), and return approximately 7:45 p.m.
