Alhambra CA— Shakey’s Pizza announced on Tuesday that it has raised over $13,000 in donations for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. Collected from patrons of the iconic American restaurant chain’s 24 corporately owned stores during the 2016 holiday season, the donation helps the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) distribute more than 419 million toys to over 195 million less fortunate children. The Toys for Tots Program is one of the nation’s flagship Christmas charitable causes, a legacy that closely aligns with Shakey’s 60-year commitment to family and community.
“We are proud to partner year-after-year with the USMC to help support a worthwhile effort that has such a positive effect on local communities” says Nick Mayer, Shakey’s Pizza CEO. “It’s easy to get our team behind the initiative and, most importantly, we extend our sincere gratitude to all of our customers, without whom we could not have provided such a meaningful contribution. The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
