Oceanside CA— Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside’s R.O.A.D.’s program received $4,000 from the Legacy Endowment Community Foundation. This program provides opportunities and activities for adults with disabilities to reach their fullest potential.
The R.O.A.D.’s Program has become a strong presence in North San Diego County, known for providing opportunities for adults that have an intellectual or developmental disability, to learn life skills through real life experiences.  The goal is to enhance the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities by creating an environment to learn, grow and be involved within the community. Through the program, members participate in educational, social and life skill activities. It includes everything from financial literacy, to classes on self-defense, yoga, zumba, volunteering at the local Senior Center, gardening and so much more! In addition, members take group field trips to the San Diego Zoo, local restaurants, and the Oceanside Harbor.  The program runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

“Thanks to the $4,000 grant from the Legacy Endowment Community Foundation and the visionary compassion of Elisabeth Wilson, we are able to enhance the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities” said Jodi Diamond, CEO. “Not only does the program teach life skills, but it also provides a safe place for members to be in community with one another. The opportunity the Club provides through this program is critical in positively impacting this community.”
