Carlsbad CA— The Carlsbad City Library is pleased to announce its spring line up of four Author Talk events occurring in the months of March and April.
Events at a glance:
Saturday, March 18, 7 p.m. – Christina Baker Kline
Carlsbad City Library, Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium
Christina Baker Kline, New York Times bestselling author of Orphan Train, will discuss her latest novel, A Piece of the World, a stunning and atmospheric novel of friendship, passion, and art, inspired by Andrew Wyeth’s mysterious and iconic painting, Christina’s World. Kline interweaves fact and fiction in a powerful novel bringing into focus the flesh-and-blood woman behind the portrait. Free tickets will be distributed beginning two hours prior to event.
Sunday, March 19, 2 p.m. – Bernhard Schlink
Carlsbad City Library, Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium
Bernhard Schlink will discuss his newly released novel, The Woman on the Stairs. Schlink is a German law professor and judge who is best known for his internationally bestselling novel The Reader. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to meet this internationally acclaimed author and learn how Schlink was inspired to bring together a missing painting, a mysterious woman, her husband and a lover in one intricate and poignant book. Free tickets will be distributed beginning two hours prior to event.
Sunday, April 2, 2 p.m. – Elizabeth Letts
Georgina Cole Library Community Room
Elizabeth Letts will discuss her latest work, The Perfect Horse: The Daring U.S. Mission to Rescue the Priceless Stallions Kidnapped by the Nazis, a riveting true story of the valiant rescue of priceless pedigree horses in the last days of World War II. Letts is author of New York Times Bestseller The Eighty-Dollar Champion.
Tuesday, April 18, 8 p.m. – Dances with Words: An Evening with Richard Lederer and Bill Shipper
Georgina Cole Library Community Room
Richard Lederer and Bill Shipper will present Dances with Words, a unique event that combines the talents of best-selling author Richard Lederer and folk-singing humorist Bill Shipper. These two sparring punsters will perform Lederer’s unique wordfun set to original music.
Christina Baker Kline and Bernhard Schlink Author Talks will be held in the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium at the Carlsbad City Library complex, located at 1775 Dove Lane. These programs are made possible in part by the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation’s Robert H. Gartner Cultural Endowment Fund and in partnership with Adventures by the Book.
Elizabeth Letts and Dances with Words Author Talks will be held in the Community Room at the Georgina Cole Library, located at 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive. These programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Carlsbad Library.
