Oceanside CA— For the 10th year, the Oceanside Pacific Kiwanis held’
‘Beach Fun Day’ event, at the Oceanside Harbor, focusing on approximately 60 children with special needs.
The kids were treated to a half-hour boat ride aboard the Oceanside 95, kite flying, a visit by the Oceanside Fire Department, Police Department and Lifeguards along with static displays of equipment from Camp Pendleton.
Oceanside High School cheerleaders escorted the kids through the different events and each child received a kite, book and book bag and a special “Beach Fun Day” t-shirt commemorating the event.
“ We held the event a little early this year because we were not sure what was going to happen with Helgrens lease and we wanted to make sure the kids got their boat ride” said Richard L. Burton, with the Oceanside Pacific Kiwanis(OPK). It all looks like everything is running smoothly but it takes a lot of work from everyone behind the scenes to make it happen. The Beach Fun Day event could not be such a success without the full support of our members, the City, the school district and many supporting organizations and individuals in the community.”
