Fundraiser provides resources for families with children battling cancer

San Diego County CA— The Emilio Nares Foundation (ENF), a nonprofit that helps families navigate their child’s journey through cancer, will celebrate the 14th annual Harvest for Hope fundraiser on Sunday, October 1, at the San Diego Central Library benefitting ENF’s support programs. Harvest for Hope brings together some of the finest chefs in San Diego to present unique dishes paired with some of the finest wines and spirits in the world, creating a beautiful and fun afternoon of great food, wine, music and friendship. The event features signature dishes from more than 13 participating local restaurants, including the event’s founding partners Brooklyn Girl, Café Chloe, Legal Restaurants, AR Valentien, Pamplemousse Grille and Carnitas Snack Shack. Also attending the event will be founding partners Ingrid Croce and Jimmy Rock, who were one of the first to support Richard and Diane with meals while their son Emilio was battling cancer, and were instrumental in creating and growing Harvest for Hope into such a success.

“Harvest for Hope is such a special event both for our organization and personally. With us since the first event in 2003, these founding owners and chefs cooked for Richard and me while our son Emilio was in the hospital battling cancer,” said Diane Nares, co-founder of the Emilio Nares Foundation and founder of the Harvest for Hope fundraiser. “By cooking for so many guests, they continue Emilio’s legacy and keep our mission alive.”
Guests will enjoy tastings from 13 local restaurants: Brooklyn Girl, Café Chloe, Legal Restaurants, AR Valentien, The Lodge at Torrey Pines, Pamplemousse Grille, Carnitas Snack Shack, Little Lion Café, Morton’s Steakhouse, Solare, Sweet Cheeks Baking Co., Waypoint Public, Crust Pizzeria, and Harry’s Coffee Shop. In addition to a spread of fine cuisine, the event will also include a cocktail bar hosted by Snake Oil Cocktail Company, beer donated by Ballast Point Breweing Co., as well as a silent auction and live auction with food, wine, and other gifts.
“It means so much to the ENF team year after year to have the support of the community and so many of these generous restaurants and wineries,” said Richard Nares, co-founder and lead visionary of the Emilio Nares Foundation. “Harvest for Hope is critical to our continued success in serving underprivileged families in their fight against cancer, whether it’s driving them to their treatment appointments, or providing emotional support.”
ENF has been helping families navigate their child’s journey through cancer since 2003, after co-founders Richard and Diane Nares’ son Emilio lost his brave battle with cancer at only five years old. They felt inspired to turn their loss into a legacy and help other children beat cancer. Since then, ENF has touched the lives of families in San Diego and across the country with resources and support. Each year, ENF hosts the Harvest For Hope fundraising event to partner with community members and organizations to continue supporting these families in need.
The event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at San Diego Central Library at 330 Park Blvd., San Diego, CA 92101.
Tickets are on sale for $135 per person or $100 with a group of 10 or more guests. Sponsorship opportunities for community members and people unable to attend are also available. To purchase tickets or become a sponsor, visit www.HarvestForHope2017.org.
