Carlsbad CA— Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation’s (CLAF) ‘Night at the Library’ Gala recently drew over 125 guests from the community. This year’s event also recognized the 50th anniversary of the Georgiana Cole Library, located at 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive. Dinner, dancing and live entertainment by Grammy Award-nominated artist, Perla Batalla, highlighted the evening. Over $10,000 was raised at the event.
Sponsors included Capital Legacy Law, Grand Pacific Resorts, Torrey Pines Bank, Sharrar & Tracy Realtors, La Costa Wine Co., Garcia’s Restaurant, La Costa Coffee Roasting, Yummy Cupcakes, and Tin Leaf Fresh Kitchen.
“We are so privileged to have an active foundation helping to support our community efforts,” said Heather Pizzuto, the city’s Library & Cultural Arts Director. “Thanks to the foundation, we are able to enhance the library, arts and cultural programs available to those who live, work and play in our city.
The mission of the foundation is to seek, cultivate and provide financial support for library and cultural arts facilities and programs that include the Carlsbad City Library, 1775 Dove Lane; the Georgiana Cole Library, 1250 Carlsbad Village Dr.; and the Library Learning Center, 3368 Eureka Place. Governance is provided by an eight-member Board of Trustees: Gita Nassiri, president; John Lucas; Frank Ruscetti; Christinna Hall; Alfredo L. Gonzales; Bob Knezek; Stan Schatt; and Karen Pearson.

The Carlsbad Library & Arts Foundation is a 501 (c ) (3) nonprofit organization established in 1998. Community gifts have also enabled the foundation to support ongoing literary and cultural programs in the library’s Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium, art exhibitions in the William D. Cannon Art Gallery, programs and services offered at the Library Learning Center; plus books and other library materials for all three city libraries.
“Thanks to the generosity of community members, through their donations and endowments, over $150,000 was contributed by the Foundation this fiscal year to the Carlsbad Library and Cultural Arts department to help fund many special programs,” said Nassiri.
