San Diego County CA— On November 11, 2017, any Veteran, active duty military and military spouse who visits any Starbucks will be treated to a free tall coffee.
Oceanside is home to the first Starbucks Military Family Store, 1779 Oceanside Blvd., to open in San Diego County. These special stores are located near major military bases, like Camp Pendleton, and have a specific focus on hiring and honoring veterans and military spouses.
In addition to the free tall coffee on November 11, for every Veterans Day Starbucks Card purchased through November 15, Starbucks will donate $5 to Veterans organizations strengthening our communities through service: Team Rubicon, Team Red, White & Blue, and The Mission Continues.
Also through November 15, Starbucks partners (employees) can donate their weekly coffee bag benefit to troops serving overseas, building on the 60,000 pounds of coffee (1.5 million cups!) shipped to service members overseas last year.
Hundreds of thousands of Starbucks baristas wear green aprons, but only hundreds wear an apron that showcases the American flag along with a partner’s name and their military affiliation.
The patriotic aprons, recognizing the service and sacrifice of veterans and military spouses, are visible in Starbucks Military Family Stores. A dozen of the special stores have now been dedicated, with more planned for the months ahead.

Starbucks Military Commitment
  • Starbucks partners (employees) take great pride in Starbucks as a Veterans-friendly company.
  • Since 2013, Starbucks has hired over 12,000 Veterans and military spouses, and is committed to hiring a total of 25,000 more by 2025.
  • And, having reached its initial goal of opening 34 Military Family Stores, Starbucks announced plans to open 100 more such stores across the U.S. over the next five years.
  • Starbucks has implemented many initiatives over the years to hire, honor and strengthen Veteran communities over the years including:
    • Patriotic green aprons to spark conversations between Veterans or military spouses and customers;
    • Starbucks Armed Forces Network expansions to include Starbucks partners in dozens of cities around the U.S. (half of chapters are run by civilians);
