San Diego County CA— The Rancho Bernardo Community Foundation (RBCF), an affiliate of The San Diego Foundation, awarded $71,821 to Rancho Bernardo nonprofits and schools at the 28^th Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon at The Rancho Bernardo Inn on November 21.
This year, RBCF focused grantmaking on programs that demonstrate the power to build a more vibrant and civically engaged Rancho Bernardo community. Grant programs that received funding will support a variety of social impact areas, including education, youth development, science and technology, the arts and more.
“The annual Rancho Bernardo Community Foundation Thanksgiving Luncheon is an opportunity for the Rancho Bernardo community to come together to celebrate the excellent programs and services offered by our nonprofit partners,” shared RBCF Board Chair Debbie Kurth during the program. “By investing in these organizations, we can directly improve the lives of those who live, work and play in Rancho Bernardo.”
Among the 2017 grant recipients is the YMCA of San Diego County, Childcare Resource Service. The $2,000 grant from RBCF will support the YMCA Teens in Motion Program, which helps teens in Rancho Bernardo develop critical academic and social skills to grow into productive members of the Rancho Bernardo community. The after-school program is designed to provide supervision and support with carefully selected activities that encourage physical, emotional and social development among students with developmental disabilities. The YMCA Teens in Motion Program is one of more than 300 nonprofit projects supported by RBCF in its history.
RBCF has granted more than $620,000 to the nonprofit community through membership and fundraising programs, such as Pathway of Pride, Hats Off to Volunteers and the Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon. Thanks to a $1.5 million endowment fund that supports the Rancho Bernardo community in perpetuity, RBCF and its members have generated an impact of $2.1 million in the community.
RBCF was founded to make Rancho Bernardo an even better place to live and work. Through its annual grantmaking, the organization has addressed a wide range of community challenges including health and human services; youth development and education; access to the outdoors; civic engagement; arts & culture and more.
