Oceanside CA— Oceanside Girl Scout Troop 1425 has donated a portion of the money they made selling cookies to CARMA to help care for retired racehorses. This year the troop’s chosen cause was “animals in need”.
On Wednesday August 1, 2018, the girls were treated to a backside barn tour, thanks to Phil D’Amato Racing Stables at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and enjoyed learning about the care and training of thoroughbred racehorses.
The troop field trip continued with a chance to see horses in the walking ring and special box seats along with cheering on their choices in each race.
A group picture taken in the winner’s circle with their presentation check for CARMA was the highlight of their day.
The City of Oceanside is proud of their young citizens and their compassion for animals in need.
