Oceanside CA— The Oceanside home of Loren and Darrell Dixon is an art-lover’s delight. Originally built in 1928 it features several floors filled with one of a kind pieces of art, a secret doorway, hidden stair case, a fairy cottage, tree house, an incredible master bedroom suite with spectacular views of Oceanside and surprises at every turn. Due to the additions and remodels over the years, the home has a Winchester House quality to it “but all our stairways and doors lead to somewhere,” Loren laughs.
Included in this world class collection are pieces by Frederick Hart who pioneered the use of clear acrylic resin to create cast figurative sculptures. He patented a process in which one clear acrylic sculpture was embedded within another. In 1997, Hart presented a unique casting called The Cross of the Millennium to Pope John Paul II in a private ceremony at the Vatican in Rome. When it was unveiled Pope John Paul II called this sculpture “a profound theological statement for our day.” Hart said, “I believe that art has a moral responsibility, that it must pursue something higher than itself. Art must be a part of life. It must exist in the domain of the common man. It must be an enriching, ennobling, and vital partner in the public pursuit of civilization. It should be a majestic presence in everyday life just as it was in the past.” Michael Novak, author of Frederick Hart: Changing Tides, wrote in 2004, “The work of Frederick Hart is changing the world of art,” referring to the artist’s conviction that the new century would bring changes to the style, form, and direction of the arts.
Also Kinetic SculpturerSusan Pascal Berans, who specializes in large scale kinetic art that is created to celebrate the environments in which they are situated. By using weather resistant and highest quality materials, she creates art that endures and designs motion not only to survive the elements and specific challenges of each site, but to benefit from them, play with them, and story-tell about them.
Pascal Beran’s art serves as totems for communities and their landscapes because it identifies and unifies individual aspects into the whole in a way that speaks about dreams and aspirations. Her installations are located around the country at many public and corporate locations and also in select sites abroad and private collections. She has received numerous awards and recognition
Other do not miss pieces include works by James Hubbel, Paul Weber and Martin Eichinger’s narrative sculptures which reflect mythic concepts, storytelling, emotion, and the human spirit. Eichinger reflected, “My attention has shifted to a renewed interest in human emotions, contemporary mythic storytelling and particularly in the refinement of my skills, as much as I am able to capture that elusive quality called ‘beauty.”
Because of the overwhelming popularity of this event, this year there are three tour times. But spaces are filling fast.

This OCAF fundraiser serves as a benefit for all their arts events scheduled throughout the year: Oceanside Days of Art – Chapter 2, Oceanside Music Fest, Oceanside International Film Fest and Write On, Oceanside!, as well as funding student scholarships. Again, this year OCAF is inviting guests to enjoy art with wine and appetizers under the trees of an astonishing garden to support its many arts-related projects.
Attendees of Fall Fest will enjoy snacks, wine and other beverages. Raffle prizes include, tickets to 16th annual OMFest, VIP passes to Oceanside International Film Festival, original painting by Ruth Jameson, photographic art by Pete Harwood, and more.
