San Diego CA— The San Diego Rescue Mission is celebrating its 11th Sleepless San Diego with a service day and sleepless night. The Rescue Mission has partnered with the YMCA Peninsula, The Food Bank, First Presbyterian Church, New Vision Christian Fellowship and the Downtown Fellowship to run several service sites on October 13, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The service opportunities include feeding the homeless, cleaning community park areas, helping the elderly, church beautification and more. Once day-of-service projects have been completed, participants will be invited to a Sleepless night at Liberty Station.
The Sleepless Evening Program begins at 4:00 p.m. and will end on Sunday morning at 6:00 a.m. One thousand youth are expected to come together to serve others and experience how to make a difference while giving back to those experiencing homelessness. Participants can come for the evening activities only. Those who wish to sleep over will be able to choose to sleep on a cot, cardboard or plastic sheeting to gain a greater appreciation of the homeless condition.
This event will raise awareness of homelessness, educate San Diegans on ways they can help the homeless and generate funds to help thousands of local homeless men, women and children permanently change their lives. Evening activities will also include live music, entertainment and a sleep-out under the stars that will inspire others to make a difference in our city. To register, visit www.sleeplesssandiego.org.
