Are you a world war II, Korea or Vietnam vet? If so, we are looking for you.
Oceanside CA— The San Luis Rey Rotary Club is once again partnering with El Camino High School to produce the 25th consecutive Veterans’ Day event on Friday, November 9, 2018, 8:00 AM in the school auditorium. This is the longest tenured Veterans Day celebration in the county and will be hosting veterans from WW II, Korea with emphasis on the Vietnam war and those that served in it this year.
The purpose of the event is to recognize and honor our valued veterans and to give them the opportunity to share their experiences with ECHS students. Again this year we are focusing primarily on the Vietnam era, the 50th year of the escalation of the war.
Entertainment is provided by the ECHS Band, Choir, ROTC, Dance and Drama team. The featured speaker this year will be Gen. J. W. Bullard, USMC (Ret).
Following the morning assembly, several of the veterans in attendance will visit individual classrooms to share their experiences with students who need to gain a better understanding of history and how veterans of all conflicts have influenced the lives the students live today.
If you are a veteran who would like to partake in this or future events, please contact Tom Voris at tom.voris@oside.net or Dennis Merchant at dennismerchant@roadrunner.net
This event is open to the general public and is free of charge
