Escondido+Inaugural+VetFest+on+Veterans+Day

Escondido CA— American Legion Post 149 is proud to announce its inaugural Escondido VetFest to take place on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, 2019. The event will include a parade which will take place in Downtown Escondido along Grand Avenue, a static display of military equipment from Camp Pendleton, information booths from our sponsors, and a free BBQ at the American Legion Post after the parade, beginning at 12:30.
This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the American Legion and the 100th anniversary of the Post 149 in Escondido. The theme is “Celebrating 100 Years of Hometown Heroes” and the parade will feature veterans from each of the wars beginning with World War II, along with a number of entries from local and regional organizations which support our Hometown Heroes.
“Retired Marine Colonel and Escondido Mayor Paul McNamara approached our Post to help organize and run this event and we were honored to step up and make this happen,” said Michael Frank, Commander of Post 149. “We are celebrating the centennial anniversary of both American Legion JB Clark Post 149 and the American Legion of the United States and are proud to honor our amazing area Veterans.”
The parade will begin along Grand Avenue at 9:30am. There will be a store-front decorating contest for merchants along Grand Avenue, the information booths and static display will viewable all morning at Maple Street Plaza, and the free BBQ with entertainment and a small ceremony will begin at the Post at 12:30pm.
