Proceeds to Benefit Services for Transition Age Foster Youth
San Diego CA— On Saturday, September 14, 2019, the San Diego County Public Defender’s Community Outreach Committee hosted Casino Royale at the San Diego Museum of Natural History in Balboa Park. The event raised $32,660 to benefit Just in Time for Foster Youth (JIT), a nonprofit organization that engages a caring community to help transition age foster youth in San Diego County achieve self-sufficiency and well-being. The funds will support JIT services that help end the foster care to prison pipeline, including career guidance, helping youth move into and furnish their first apartments, providing support for higher education and much more.
“We are always grateful for opportunities to expand our community of support for the hundreds of young people we serve each year and the San Diego Public Defenders have become an enthusiastic addition to our extended family,” said Don Wells, Executive Director at Just in Time. “The Casino Royale event also showed you can have a really great time while supporting a great cause.”
The James Bond-themed casino event featured a hosted bar and delicious food. Attendees spent the night playing table games hosted by Casino Knights, dancing to live music by CEO’s Rhythm Section, listening to JIT youth speaker Virgo Villajin and more!
