This year marks 20 years in Oceanside with local volunteers raising more than $1.7 million to achieve a world without cancer
Oceanside CA— The American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay For Life of Oceanside invites the community to help kickoff the 20th anniversary season on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Tri-City Medical Center, 4002 Vista Way Oceanside, CA 92056.
The Relay For Life movement continues to be the largest peer-to-peer fundraising event with 2.5 million participants globally uniting to save lives from cancer and since 1985, has raised nearly $6.5 billion for the American Cancer Society.
The Relay For Life of Oceanside is an opportunity for the local community to celebrate people who have been touched by cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change.
This year’s Kick-off will be held on Monday, January 27th at Tri-City Medical Center in the Lower Assembly Rooms from 6:00p-8:00p. Activities include an Introductory Meeting, Information Stations and Raffles.
Twenty years ago, a group of dedicated volunteers took the first steps in the fight against cancer. Little did they know the movement would continue to grow and the Oceanside community would support their efforts for 20 years!
This year’s Relay For Life event will be held on April 18-19, 2020 at Mira Costa College. Symbolizing the battle waged around the clock by those facing cancer, the event will last 24 hours and empowers the community to take a stand against cancer.
ACS estimates that 1 out of 3 people in the US will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Funds raised at Relay For Life events help the ACS fund and conduct breakthrough research, and gives cancer patients and their families the resources they need, like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline for answers and support.
