Carlsbad CA— The American Heart Association North County Heart & Stroke Walk is Saturday, March 7 at the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. The Heart & Stroke Walk brings the community together to raise awareness and critical funds to fight heart disease and stroke – the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers. Funds raised at the North County Heart & Stroke Walk will benefit the American Heart Association’s cardiovascular research efforts, community education outreach and other mission-related work.
Organizers are encouraging people to join them for the 3-mile walk through The Flower Fields, and then staying to explore and enjoy the colorful blooms. After exploring The Flower Fields, participants are invited to visit the Premium Outlet Mall for breakfast/brunch and some shopping. Several locations will be open early in support of the event.
The American Heart Association North County Heart & Stroke Walk Expo opens at 6:00AM, with opening ceremonies starting at 6:45AM. The Heart & Stroke Walk is expected to wrap-up a little after 9:00AM.

The North County Heart & Stroke Walk has something for everyone, including a Kids Zone, free Hands-Only CPR training, and free health screenings. Organizers also plan to celebrate the 1000^th person to receive Hands-Only CPR training as part of the North County Hands-Only CPR Superheroes campaign.
The North County San Diego Heart and Stroke Walk is brought to North County by Tri-City Medical Center as part of the Life is Why platform.
Walking or participating in any exercise that raises your heart rate can boost your energy, strength and mood, while fending off serious health issues like obesity, high blood pressure, poor cholesterol and bone loss. The American Heart Association and Tri-City Medical Center have been collaborating since 2017 to raise heart and brain health awareness in North County.
The awareness campaign has focused on heart and brain health and the steps one can take to help reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. This has been done through community-based workshops, health fairs, and education at events such as the Vista Strawberry Festival and the Carlsbad Street Faire. In addition to focusing on healthy lifestyle choices, the American Heart Association and Tri-City Medical Center also launched the North County Hands-Only CPR Superheroes campaign, with the goal of providing the life-saving skill of Hands-Only CPR to more than 1000 North County residents. They expect to train number 1000 at the March 7 Heart & Stroke Walk.
We are fighting heart diseases and stroke, the No. 1 and No. 5 killers of all Americans, by making the places we live, learn, work, play, pray and heal healthier. We are doing this with an emphasis on improving access to healthy food, blood pressure management, and reducing tobacco’s toll in North County.
