Oceanside CA— Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) has received $20,000 in emergency funding from Price Philanthropies. This grant will help offset the exponential increase in expenses brought on by the pandemic, including individual educational supplies and food for the Emergency Food Program. BGCO’s life-changing programs support the academic success and overall wellbeing of youth during these challenging times.
With school closures extending into the fall, on August 17th, BGCO transitioned from summer camp to our new Back2School program. Every weekday, the Back2School program provides youth with a quiet environment so they can complete classwork, high-speed internet access, academic support, nutritious lunches, and daily fitness activities. In addition, BGCO continues to offer our Emergency Food Program which provides curbside pickup of meals to at-risk community youth affected by food insecurity. To date, BGCO has served over 27,000 meals.
“We are extremely grateful for Price Philanthropies’ support. It is crucial that we help build a solid foundation for the academic success and wellbeing of at-risk youth during these tumultuous times. As school closures continue, this grant will help ensure that at-risk youth receive necessary educational resources and proper nutrition they need,” said Jodi Diamond, CEO.
