Carlsbad CA— The Assistance League of North Coast, a non-profit, all volunteer, philanthropic organization serving children in Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista, will be holding its first virtual fundraiser. They are asking members of the community to Step Up for Kids in a Virtual 5K to be held in conjunction with Giving Tuesday, December 1st and continuing through December 15, 2020. The organization raises funds for their 12 Operation School Bell and Scholarship programs through the money from their annual Gala and sales at their Thrift Shop located in Oceanside in the Frazier Farms Shopping Center on Oceanside Blvd. Currently they have had to reduce their days for being opened from 6 days a week to three and had to cancel the Gala due to the pandemic. The monies earned from these two projects provided, shoes, clothing, school supplies, books, health kits and scholarships to over 11,292 children last year.

The organization also provided 441 students with school uniforms, 803 students with jackets and blankets and 10 high school seniors each with a $2,500 scholarship. Boys from New Haven School for Boys were able to shop for new clothes twice last year at J.C. Penney’s and over 600 sets of underwear were given to children of Marines at Camp Pendleton as part of a program titled Chapters for Children.
