Oceanside CA— Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) has received a $10,000 grant from T-Mobile to support the Club in providing critical services to youth as they attend school virtually.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, BGCO has adapted its programs to meet the rapidly evolving needs of the youth we serve. After reopening for summer camp in June, on August 17th, BGCO transitioned into our new Back2School program. The Back2School program provides the wrap-around support needed for at risk youth to succeed academically under these very challenging circumstances. BGCO provides youth in the Back2School program with a quiet, supervised environment to focus on classwork, high-speed internet access, academic support, nutritious lunches, and daily fitness and recreation. In addition, BGCO collaborates closely with Oceanside Unified School District to provide virtual learning support each day.
“We are so incredibly grateful for T-Mobile’s support. With school closures continuing, it is more important than ever that our Club is able to get our youth back on track academically and to provide them with the resources they need to thrive,” said Jodi Diamond, CEO.
“The Boys & Girls Clubs of America plays a critical role supporting programs that support millions of children across the country. It’s a mission that we at T-Mobile have long supported,” said Irene Kieweg, vice president, T-Mobile. “Now more than ever it’s critical that youth get access to the critical services they need for support through their virtual learning. We’re grateful that our T-Mobile teams in southern California identified the opportunity to support Oceanside children in the pursuit of their academic endeavors and that we as an organization had the means to help.”
