National City nonprofit to host virtual cooking and educational gardening events in December
Nutrition educators to teach participants how to make foodie-inspired gifts
Organization to host bilingual reading event with local award-winning author
San Diego CA— During the month of December, Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center will host several events for community members to enjoy. The leading event will be a family-friendly livestream where Olivewood nutrition educators will teach participants how to make creative foodie-inspired gifts. These include candy citrus peels, chocolate flavored stir-straws that make hot chocolate, vegan parmesan for popcorn, and date truffles of different flavors.
In partnership with MyPoint Credit Union, the nonprofit will also be hosting a free bilingual reading with local award-winning author Dr. Maria De La Luz Reyes. Reyes will be reading her latest children’s book, Countdown to the Last Tortilla, based on her own memories.
In addition, the nonprofit will continue to host recurring monthly events including Learning with Leonard, Virtual Chefcitos Cooking Class, and Virtual Garden Explorers.
With the holidays just around the corner, Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center will keep its community engaged with fun and holiday-themed learning opportunities. Events are suitable for individuals of all age ranges to support diverse community members across the region.
