San Diego CA— While the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting many financially, there are still acts of kindness that require another valuable asset: time. A study by the Corporation of National and Community Service says volunteering has proven to help lower rates of depression and may decrease disease risk by several years.
Lions Tigers & Bears, local big cat and bear rescue, sanctuary and educational facility, is looking for volunteers to assist with day-to day-operations and caring for their 60+ rescued animals in Alpine. As little as a few hours a week can benefit the overall health and well-being of the volunteer and animal residents at Lions Tigers & Bears.
Volunteers are needed for tasks such as:
- Animal diet preparation (some lions eat 14 pounds per day!)
- Landscape care
- Community outreach
- Fence building and more!
For those staying close to home, there are many animal enrichment projects that can be done there – and make a great family activity, including creating and decorating cardboard boxes and paper mache, preparing treats to celebrate an animal’s birthday or holiday, and more!
