An opportunity to donate school supplies to local kids in need
San Diego County CA— As life returns to normal for some, millions of American families and individuals continue to experience daily challenges that threaten their well-being. The back-to-school season can place a tremendous burden on families experiencing lost wages and looming evictions, forcing them to choose between putting food on the table or making sure their kids have the tools needed for educational success.
To meet the need, The Salvation Army is working with Walmart to collect school supplies for local children during the annual Stuff the Bus event, Friday, August 6 to Sunday, August 8 at local Walmart stores.
Shoppers can purchase school supplies then drop them off at collection bins at the front of each store. Prefer to shop online? Go to the Registry for Good to donate supplies online with just a few quick clicks. More than 4,500 Walmart stores across the country will participate.
All supplies will be distributed to families in the community where they are given, to help local children enter the school year ready to succeed.
“It has been a challenging year for families and your help in providing back-to-school supplies will be a tremendous encouragement to many. By donating school supplies for a child in need, you can ensure that families start the school year well and achieve success in the future,” says Lt. Col. Lee Lescano, Divisional Secretary for the Salvation Army San Diego.
