After an eighteen-month hiatus, which resembled a long hibernation period waiting for COVID-19 to reach a safe level of containment, the infamous San Marcos Festivals re-opened early last Sunday morning. The crowd was anxious, prepared for the fair and grateful to the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce for the occasion.
Many loyal, patient, and unique vendors, along with newcomers, began their set-up at 6 a.m.

By 9 a.m. at the official opening time, the energized crowds began to enter. Food Vendors and food trucks were ready for their arrival.
In addition, the entertainment areas waited for the children and families to participate in this fabulous coming out of hibernation event. Social distancing in the fresh air, a few wore masks, though many did not, each seemingly respectful of the choice. The show continued throughout the day.

The EDCO employees also took special care to keep the trash cans clean and the streets clear. They also appeared to enjoy the planned event and play their part in the awakening of social gatherings.

As the day drew closer to the end, attendees, though tired, were smiling and filled with new energy. The crowd seemed to be addressing COVID itself, realizing its presence but exhibiting hope that we will again regain our human capacity to celebrate the joys of entertainment and activities with our comrades. Kudos to San Marcos, California and its Chamber of Commerce for this contribution in the North County arena.
