Oceanside CA— The Republican Club of Ocean Hills (RCOH) is pleased to welcome Chris Megison, cofounder, President and CEO of Vista’s North County Solutions for Change, to our May 17th meeting. Solutions for Change are a non-profit entity which transforms lives and communities by permanently solving family homelessness. The approach is unique, providing a complete and sustainable solution driven by accountability. Mr. Megison will address “Public policy in the New Administration as related to Poverty and Homelessness.”
There are many solutions at Solutions for Change. Taken together, they are the pillars of supporting a productive environment in which they build futures for homeless families. One integral part of the social enterprise is the Solutions Farms, the largest commercial aquaponics farming operation in Southern California, which allows residents to work, acquiring and refining skills. Profits are reinvested in Solutions for Change programs, so each generation of residents helps the next.
Mr. Megison served ten years in the United States Marine Corps and is a graduate of National University. Since 1993 Chris has designed and led numerous social purpose initiatives and innovations that have solved homelessness permanently for over 4,500 people. His trademark impact is his “get up, suit up and show up” model of leadership in which he leads from the front, a style of servant leadership that he learned as a U.S. Marine. Mr. Megison established Solutions for Change in 1999 and, five years later, received Congressional recognition from Congressman Darrell Issa for his efforts to solve family homelessness.
The Republican Club of Ocean Hills (RCOH) believes in Republican values: individual responsibility, personal freedoms, limited government, a market economy, low taxes, and a strong national defense. RCOH meets the third Wednesday of each month at the Broken Yolk Café, 2434 Vista Way, Oceanside CA. The Meet and Greet, and the optional lunch purchased individually from the restaurant menu, is from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. The speaker is at 1:15 p.m. There is no charge to attend.
Please RSVP by contacting Colleen at (760) 842-8735. Check us out on Facebook as Republican Club of Ocean Hills.
